Ghana’s Black Bombers beat the Metro Detroit Golden Gloves 6-4 at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday 10 October.
The meeting was billed as Fist of Fury and ran to ten bouts. It is the result of the Bukom card AXN Sports wrote up without one.
How the six bouts were won
Mathias Ashitey beat Cayden Youser, Amadu Mohammed beat Tyler Luce, Ebenezer Ankrah beat Christian Curry, Abdul Wahid Omar beat Glanni Figueroa and Solomon Sackey beat Mustapha Alfartousi, all 3-0. Francis Quartey beat Payden Jones 2-1.
Detroit’s four came through Christian Geck, who beat Philip Quansah 3-0, Desmond Harris, who beat Abdul Khalid 2-1, Lamar Stewart III, who beat Joseph Frimpong 2-1, and Darius Parlor, who beat Jibril Muntari 3-0 in the final bout. Parlor was named best boxer and took the trophy.
What the federation wants from it
Nii Adama Addy, vice president of the Ghana Boxing Federation, said the programme was fruitful and that he looks forward to the return encounter.
Ghana is building a Black Bombers squad for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Richard Akpokavie, president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Kofi Mawuli Wuako, administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund, and Ernest Danso, chef de mission for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, were among those at the arena.
Bukom is where Ghana stages its amateur internationals, and this one goes in the file for anyone following Ghanaian sport.
