Kwame Opoku put Gold Stars ahead inside the opening ten minutes. Yaw Baafi levelled and Kwaku Boateng Henry scored the winner, both inside the second half, and the Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare then saved a penalty late on to keep the lead.

Gold Stars had gone nineteen league matches unbeaten at Dun's Park before this defeat. Hearts are top with six points from two matches, six goals scored and one conceded.

Kotoko get their first win

Asante Kotoko beat Heart of Lions by two goals to one at the Baba Yara Stadium for their first league win of the season. Emmanuel Mamah and Isaac Opoku Agyemang scored, and Francis Odoom pulled one back from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, FC Samartex beat Aduana by a goal to nil, Berekum Chelsea beat Dreams by three goals to one, Karela United beat Bechem United by the same score, and Swedru All Blacks and Young Apostles both won by a goal to nil. The Medeama fixture was not played and neither the association nor the league has published a rearranged date.

What the table says after two rounds

Hearts and FC Samartex are both on six points from two wins, with Hearts top on goal difference. Two matchdays is far too little to read a title race from, but it does tell you something about Hearts: they won matchday one by four goals to nil and then won a match they were losing, which is a different kind of result.

Where to bet: Betway and Premier Bet, both licensed by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, price the domestic league in cedis on match result, double chance, total goals and both teams to score, with deposits through MTN Mobile Money and Telecel Cash. Two rounds in, the prices still lean on last season rather than on this one, which is where a team like Gold Stars, strong at home for a year and now beaten there, gets repriced. Compare the two books before matchday three. Our guide to the best betting sites in Ghana covers licensing and withdrawal times, and there is more in Ghana soccer news from AXN Sports. 18+.
