Malawi have qualified for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney by reaching the semi finals of the Africa Netball Cup in Nairobi, where South Africa beat them by sixty two goals to forty six on 25 September.
World Netball has confirmed that Malawi and Namibia are the two teams invited from the Africa Netball Cup. They join South Africa and Uganda, who were invited on their world rankings as those stood on 1 December 2025.
Malawi reached the last four by finishing second in Pool 2. Uganda beat them by fifty four goals to forty nine in Nairobi on 23 September, in the last of the pool matches, and Uganda finished the pool unbeaten. Malawi had beaten Nigeria by eighty two goals to twenty two earlier in the pool.
The semi final that nearly did not happen
Organisers had removed the semi finals from the schedule during the tournament, sending the two pool winners straight to the final and putting the other teams into cross pool qualifying play offs. The Netball Association of Malawi complained to Africa Netball and to World Netball about the change.
The semi finals were then restored. Africa Netball states the rule as the top two teams from each pool advancing to the semi finals and the final, and World Netball tied the two World Cup invitations to reaching the semi finals. That put Malawi against South Africa and Uganda against Namibia, and it is the route by which Malawi hold a place in Sydney.
What is left in Nairobi
South Africa play Uganda in the final on 26 September. Malawi play in the third place match. Neither result changes the two African invitations, which are settled.
For a betting market that lives on Queens fixtures, that removes the question the tournament was priced around. A third place match with qualification already decided is a different proposition from a semi final, and winning margin is the line that carries the movement once the stake is gone from the result.
Where to bet: netball prices in Malawi thin out quickly outside a tournament week, so expect match winner, winning margin and tournament outright rather than a deep menu. Premier Bet and Betway price Queens fixtures in kwacha with deposits by mobile money, and the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority licenses betting in the country.
