Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have confirmed a run of signings as they prepare for a return to the CAF Champions League.
K’Ogalo added Harambee Stars defender Daniel Sakari, who arrived as a free agent from Kenya Police on a two year contract. Goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi and attackers Hansel Ochieng and Enock Machaka also joined, according to reports, giving the coaching staff fresh options across the pitch after the title win.
Gor Mahia also looked beyond Kenya. Reports link the club with Malian forward Issa Djiguiba, Nigerien midfielder Ibrahim Djingarey and Chadian international Charles Tchouplaou. The recruitment points to a squad built to survive tougher continental nights, where Gor Mahia have often struggled to progress past the early rounds.
Preseason work began on 18 July with a friendly against Rwandan side Rayon Sports. The first legs of the Champions League preliminary round are set for early September, with return legs the following week. That leaves the technical bench a short window to blend new signings with the players who won the domestic crown.
The wider question is depth. Kenyan clubs have long found the money and squad size hard to match against North and Southern African rivals. This reshaped Gor Mahia side looks stronger on paper, yet the real test comes once the continental draw hands them a serious opponent.
Where to bet: Kenyan supporters can follow Gor Mahia’s continental run with licensed bookmakers Betika and SportPesa, which list match and outright markets in Kenyan shillings, KES. Prices move once line ups are confirmed. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
Fans will get an early read on the squad during the remaining friendlies. If the new arrivals settle quickly, Gor Mahia could carry real belief into the group stage push.
