Kenya Shujaa head coach Kevin Wambua has named his squad for the Africa Men’s Sevens in Mauritius, with four players in line for a first appearance, and the team departed on Thursday 1 October.
Patrick Sabatia, Glacious Owino, Dennis Livoi and Lucky Onyango are the four, picked on their form in the recently concluded National Sevens Circuit. Elvis Olukusi and Rayvone Ambale are the two co-captains. Gabriel Ayimba, Brian Mutua, Clinton Amukwachi, David Nyangige, Arnold Agonda and Victor Odhiambo are also in the squad.
Where and when it is played
The Mauritius Sevens Tournament 2026 is at SPARC in Cascavelle on 3 and 4 October. It is one of the two competitions in the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series, the other being the SVNS 3 2026/2027 Africa Qualifiers in Uganda on 26 and 27 September. Kenya are in Pool B with Namibia, Réunion and Madagascar.
What Mauritius decides
Rugby Africa’s format gives the promotion place to Uganda rather than to Mauritius: the team finishing first at the SVNS 3 2026/2027 Africa Qualifiers qualifies for World Rugby SVNS 3 2027, and Zimbabwe won in Kampala. Mauritius decides places ninth to thirteenth in the Africa Men’s Sevens Ranking 2026, with the tournament winner ranked ninth.
What comes next for Shujaa
Kenya host the Safari Sevens at Nyayo National Stadium in October, with 18 teams entered. We have set out where Shujaa sit in the sevens series, and more rugby from this market is on the Kenya sports news page.
