KCB Rugby are through to the final of the 43rd Impala Floodlit Tournament after a 64-11 semi-final victory over Mwamba RFC at Impala Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday evening, 24 October.
The bankers ran in 10 tries to overwhelm their opponents and set up a final against Kenya Harlequin on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at the same venue.
Back in the final after two years
The win returns KCB to the Floodlit title decider for the first time since 2023. They missed the final in both 2024 and 2025, so this result marks a return to the tournament’s biggest stage.
The bankers made their intentions clear early in the semi-final, asserting control through well-organised attacking play and sharp running lines. Brian Wahinya’s reliable goal-kicking helped turn that pressure into a growing lead on the scoreboard. Mwamba did get on the scoreboard, scoring 11 points in total, but they were never able to threaten KCB’s grip on the contest.
The road to the semi-final
KCB booked their place in the last four a week earlier with a quarter-final win over defending champions Menengai Oilers at Impala Club on Saturday, 17 October. That result ended a two-year wait for a semi-final appearance and sent them into the Mwamba tie with real momentum.
Mwamba, meanwhile, had also come through their quarter-final to reach the semi-final stage, and the clash promised to be a tight local rivalry. KCB’s 10-try response left little doubt about which side was stronger on the night.
What to expect from KCB and Quins
Kenya Harlequin, popularly known as Quins, won through the other semi-final and will now provide the opposition in the decider. The final brings together two of the city’s best-known clubs, and both will be eager to lift the trophy.
KCB will be looking to carry their semi-final form into the final, while Harlequin will aim to test the bankers’ defence and disrupt their run. The match will be played at Impala Grounds on Ngong Road.
