Kenya’s cricketers have booked a spot in the Africa Regional Final, and the national side is now building toward the next step of T20 World Cup qualifying.
The Kenya side reached this stage by finishing runners up in the Africa Sub-regional Qualifier A, played in Botswana from 23 to 30 May. Kenya won convincingly against Mali by 172 runs, beat Sierra Leone by 38 runs and saw off hosts Botswana by 62 runs. A narrow two wicket loss to Rwanda was the only blemish across the group.
The reward is a place in the Africa Regional Final, where the standard rises sharply. The leading nations on the continent compete there for the qualifying places that lead toward the global stage, so Kenya will need their batting depth and disciplined bowling to hold up against stronger opponents.
The focus now falls on preparation. Selectors will want game time for the top order and clarity on their best bowling attack before the regional final arrives. For a proud cricket nation working its way back up the rankings, this run offers a real chance to signal progress.
Where to bet: Kenyan cricket fans can follow the national team with licensed local bookmakers such as Betika and SportPesa, with markets priced in Kenyan shillings, KES. Expect odds on match winners and top runscorers, so compare prices before the regional final. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
