Kalisto Pasuwa named a twenty four man Malawi squad for the Group B qualifier against Angola on Tuesday, and three players who were not in the side that beat South Sudan are in it.
They are goalkeeper Amos Sande of Ekhaya FC, Robert Saizi of Silver Strikers and midfielder Chawanangwa Gumbo of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. The rest come from the squad Pasuwa named for these qualifiers. Richard Mbulu travelled with the party.
The journey to Luanda
The squad flew to Luanda from Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on Sunday. The match is at the Estádio 11 de Novembro and CAF has it on Tuesday 6 October, matchday two of Group B. There is more Malawi sports news on the country page.
Where Malawi stand
Malawi have three points from matchday one, when they beat South Sudan by two goals to one. Egypt have four points, Angola one and South Sudan none.
What the format asks
CAF divided 48 teams into 12 groups of four. The teams ranked first and second in each group qualify for the finals, with one exception: in Groups D, H and L, where Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are already qualified as co-hosts, only the highest ranked team among the other three qualifies. Group B is Egypt, Angola, Malawi and South Sudan, and it has no co-host.
Angola are without Beni Mukendi of Vitória de Guimarães, who was injured in a training session.
