Zimbabwe trailed by two goals at half time and beat Sierra Leone by three goals to two in their opening AFCON 2027 qualifier in El Jadida on 24 September, Marshall Munetsi scoring twice.
Alie Conteh and Sallieu Tarawallie scored in the first half for Sierra Leone, who staged the match in Morocco. Munetsi pulled one back after the hour, Tawanda Chirewa levelled soon afterwards and Munetsi scored again late on.
Group E after matchday one
DR Congo beat Equatorial Guinea by two goals to nil in the other Group E match, through Chancel Mbemba and Yoane Wissa. Zimbabwe and DR Congo both have three points from one match, with DR Congo ahead on goal difference. Group E is made up of DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe host DR Congo at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on 28 September, and Sierra Leone play Equatorial Guinea away the same day.
