Sudan beat Tanzania by four kicks to three in the shootout at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam on 24 September, after the CECAFA Under 20 final finished level at one goal each. Both finalists had already taken their places at the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The final was goalless after ninety minutes. Omer Hamd scored for Sudan in extra time and Abdulnassir Abdallah equalised for Tanzania before the shootout.
Both finalists are already through to Ghana
Tanzania beat Burundi by two goals to nil in the semi final on 22 September, Juma Abushiri and Faraji Kayanda scoring, and that win put them in the final. CECAFA gives both finalists automatic places at the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations, so the rule had already sent both sides to Ghana before the final was played. Sudan reached the final by beating Uganda by three goals to two in the other semi final.
The rest of the tournament
Uganda beat Burundi by two goals to nil in the third place match, through Derrick Ssozi and Ashraf Kyakuwa. Ghana hosts the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2027.
