Reigning champions Scottland sit top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, but Hardrock and Ngezi Platinum are keeping the title race uncomfortably tight.
Scottland lead the standings on 31 points, a slender advantage over Hardrock and Ngezi Platinum, who both sit on 29. It is a strong position for a club still new to the summit, having lifted their first ever league crown in 2025. In the 45th edition of Zimbabwe’s top flight, which opened back in March, the defending champions are proving that title was no accident.
The chasing pack smell an opening. Ngezi Platinum carry the experience of regular championship challenges, while Hardrock have surprised many with their consistency. A single slip from Scottland could hand either side top spot, and with matches coming thick and fast the margin for error is shrinking for everyone near the summit.
There is a national angle too. A competitive PSL keeps home-based Warriors candidates in form and under pressure, exactly what coach Michael Nees wants as he weighs his locally grounded options against the foreign legion. Standout league performers will fancy their chances of forcing their way into the next Zimbabwe squad.
