Zimbabwe football legend Peter Ndlovu has been appointed interim head coach of Scottland FC, taking charge of the Castle Lager Premiership champions as they prepare for a crucial encounter against CAPS United.
Scottland confirmed Ndlovu’s appointment following the departure of Norman Mapeza, who was dismissed after the club’s elimination from the CAF Champions League. Ndlovu, who had been serving as team manager, will temporarily lead the technical team while the club searches for a substantive successor.
The former Warriors captain’s first assignment will be Thursday’s league clash against CAPS United at Rufaro Stadium, where Scottland will be looking to return to winning ways and keep their domestic ambitions alive.
Ndlovu’s new technical team
Ndlovu will be assisted by Danger Fourpence, while veteran forward Knowledge Musona joins the technical setup as a player-assistant coach. Goalkeeper Talbert Shumba will also take up goalkeeping coach responsibilities.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Ndlovu, one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated football exports, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career in England with Coventry City, Birmingham City and Sheffield United before continuing his career in South Africa.
He now faces the challenge of translating his experience and leadership into results from the touchline, beginning with a demanding fixture against CAPS United.
Four league matches to go
Scottland have four league matches remaining and are also competing in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup. With the season approaching its conclusion, Ndlovu’s immediate priority will be to steady the team and ensure the champions remain competitive in their remaining domestic assignments.
Thursday’s meeting with CAPS United will therefore provide the first glimpse of Scottland under their new interim coach, as the club look to move forward following a turbulent week.
