Mamelodi Sundowns beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday 10 October to win the 2026 MTN8.
Teboho Mokoena put Sundowns ahead in the 11th minute, finishing from close range after a backheel from Thabang Matuludi. Iqraam Rayners, on as a substitute, added the second from the penalty spot in stoppage time. Between the two goals Ronwen Williams saved a penalty taken by Gamphani Lungu.
How the final turned
Sipho Chaine kept goal for Pirates and made a series of saves before the break, including a save from Nuno Santos of Sundowns. Pirates had their own way back from the spot after the interval, and Williams read it.
Miguel Cardoso coaches Sundowns and Abdeslam Ouaddou coaches Pirates.
Where this sits in MTN8 history
Sundowns had last won the MTN8 in 2021. Pirates had won the four previous finals in a row and were denied a fifth.
The Premier Soccer League confirmed the Moses Mabhida Stadium as the venue in September, and the final sold out.
