The 2026/27 CAF Champions League group-stage draw will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday 28 October, with 16 clubs set to discover their opponents for the next stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
The draw will be held at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters at 15:00 local time (12:00 GMT), with the qualified teams divided into four groups of four. The group stage is scheduled to begin in November.
Tanzania will have two representatives, Simba SC and Young Africans, who secured qualification after convincing aggregate victories in the second preliminary round. Simba defeated Equatorial Guinea’s 15 de Agosto 9-1 on aggregate, while Yanga also progressed comfortably.
Both Tanzanian clubs are in Pot 2. This means Simba and Yanga cannot meet in the group stage, but the draw will reveal which African heavyweights stand between them and the quarter-finals.
Among the other qualified sides are Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Pyramids FC, Tunisia’s Espérance, Morocco’s RS Berkane and South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, setting up the prospect of challenging groups as the race for continental honours intensifies.
