The FDH Bank Netball Premier League is Malawi’s top domestic netball competition, built on twelve teams, twenty two matches each and a sponsorship package worth K1.2 billion over four years.

Twelve clubs make up the league and each of them plays twenty two matches, a format that carried more than two hundred fixtures across the opening campaign.

What the sponsorship actually buys

FDH Bank plc committed K1.2 billion to the competition across four years. For the second season the annual figure rose to K350 million from K250 million, an increase announced on 29 June 2026.

Prize money sits inside that. Blue Eagles Sisters took K13 million for winning the first season, having gone through it unbeaten and closing it out by beating Tigresses by fifty eight goals to thirty three.

Where the money stops

Sponsorship covers the competition, not the clubs. FDH Bank managing director Noel Mkulichi used the first awards night to call on the wider business community to sponsor sides that were struggling, and the season since has shown why. Tigresses, one of the better known Blantyre clubs, went public in August 2026 with a warning about their own finances.

The bank also funds the Mayor’s Trophy and school sports through MASSA, which is the pathway feeding the twelve senior squads. That pairing, a well funded national league sitting above thinly funded clubs, is the structural feature to watch in Malawian netball.

The season shape

The inaugural edition ran through the second half of 2025 and finished in March 2026 at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences Sports Complex in Blantyre. The second edition launched on 4 July 2026 in Lilongwe. AXN Sports follows the league table and the Malawi Queens selections that come out of it.

Where to bet: domestic netball is a thin market in Malawi and prices tend to appear only for national team fixtures rather than league rounds. Premier Bet and Betway quote Queens matches in kwacha with deposits by mobile money, and the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority is the body that licenses betting in the country. Continental tournament prices move once squads are named, so compare the two books before you stake. The AXN Sports guide to the best betting sites in Malawi covers licensing and withdrawal times, and there is more in Malawi netball news. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
