Young Africans beat CFF Andoharanofotsy 4-1 on Wednesday 21 October to win their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie 8-1 on aggregate, and Simba beat 15 de Agosto 6-1 in the first leg of their own tie on the same day.
Ibrahim Kazimoto put Young Africans ahead in the 27th minute and Selemani Mwalimu scored twice more, in the 49th and the 53rd. CFF Andoharanofotsy scored in reply and Young Africans added another before the end.
Young Africans go into the group stage
CAF’s Champions League regulations say the side with the higher aggregate score over the two matches goes through, and that sixteen teams reach the group matches. Added to the first leg, Wednesday’s 4-1 gives Young Africans an 8-1 aggregate and a place in the group stage.
Simba still have a return leg
Simba’s 6-1 win came on the same day. Chilambo, Mpanzu, Makgalwa and Oura scored once each and Doumbia twice. The tie against 15 de Agosto is played over two matches, and the return leg is still to come.
That return leg will settle the second of the two ties involving Tanzanian clubs in this round.
