Kano Pillars beat Doma United by four goals to one at the weekend to end the promoted side’s perfect start to the NPFL season, and Enyimba lost again.
Doma United had won their first three matches without conceding a goal. Kano Pillars took four off them in a single afternoon.
Inter Lagos beat Enyimba by a goal to nil. The nine time champions are still looking for their first win of the campaign, and they have now lost three in a row.
The rest of the round
Rangers beat Kun Khalifat by four goals to two, Plateau United beat Shooting Stars by three goals to one, Abia Warriors beat Sporting Lagos by two goals to nil, Warri Wolves beat Kwara United by a goal to nil, and Nasarawa United and Rivers United drew one all. Several clubs are still carrying postponed fixtures, so the table is not comparing like with like.
What it changes and what it does not
Doma United’s start was always going to end, and a four goal defeat is a harsher ending than most. What has not changed is that they remain near the top of a division in which almost nobody has played the same number of matches, so the table is a ranking of fixtures completed as much as of form.
Enyimba are the story that is hardening rather than softening. A club of their size losing three in a row in September is no longer a slow start.
Where to bet: NPFL matches are priced in naira on SportyBet and Bet9ja, both operating under Nigerian state licences, on match result, both teams to score, over and under goals and outright markets on the title and relegation, with deposits through OPay, Moniepoint and bank transfer. A side that has just lost by three clear goals is usually priced longer than its record deserves for a round or two, and a side that has just won by that margin shorter, which is the gap worth checking rather than the headline result.
