Carlos Queiroz named twenty four players for Ghana’s AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and the Gambia, with first call ups for Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor. Mohammed Kudus was named and withdrew to continue his recovery.
Ghana played Côte d’Ivoire away on 24 September and lost by two goals to nil in Bouaké. They host the Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 29 September. A friendly against Morocco follows in Morocco on 4 October.
Kudus was the headline return before he pulled out. Queiroz said on 21 September that after the player had come through about seventy minutes for his club the two had agreed it would be best for him to rest and recover properly, so Ghana opened the window without him. The Ghana Football Association added nine players to the group on 21 September, citing medical uncertainties, among them Brandon Thomas-Asante, Alidu Seidu and Jonas Adjetey.
Four returns and two debutants
Alexander Djiku comes back in defence, with Nathaniel Adjei recalled after close to a year away. Ibrahim Osman of Brighton and Hove Albion and Ibrahim Sulemana of Sassuolo are also back in the group.
Jan Gyamerah of SV Elversberg and Ronald Donkor of New York Red Bulls receive their first senior call ups. The goalkeepers named are Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
Where the prices sit
Away to Côte d’Ivoire was the harder of the two qualifiers and the one that shapes how the group reads by the end of the window. A trip to one of the strongest sides in West Africa and a home match against the Gambia five days later are priced nothing like each other, and the gap between the two is wide.
That gap is worth noticing if you bet the double. Two very different matches inside five days, with travel in between, and the goals markets in Accra often settle lower than the match result price suggests.
Where to bet: Betway and Premier Bet, both licensed by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, price the qualifiers in cedis on match result, double chance, total goals, both teams to score and group qualification, with deposits through MTN Mobile Money and Telecel Cash. A squad confirmed six days before kick off gives the books time to settle their lines, so the movement worth watching comes with the team sheet rather than the selection.
