David Mwale has never lost a professional fight, and the World Boxing Council lists the Zambian as its International bantamweight champion.
Mwale fights as Sniper and he is unbeaten across fourteen professional bouts, with thirteen wins and a draw. That is a record built almost entirely in Lusaka, against opponents brought to Zambia rather than in the away fights most African contenders have to take.
His first title was the African Boxing Union bantamweight belt. The WBC International title came in June 2025, when he beat Michael Decardi Nelson of Ghana over twelve rounds at the Government Complex in Lusaka for a belt that was vacant.
Two defences at the same venue
He defended it on 31 January 2026 at the Government Complex against a Tanzanian challenger, and again on 25 July 2026 against Charlton Malajika of South Africa on the same site. The Malajika fight ended in a draw and Mwale kept the belt.
The venue matters more than it sounds. A title fight in Zambia is staged at a government building rather than a purpose built arena, and the budget for the January card was cut before it was raised, which is the shape of professional boxing in a market with no promoter big enough to carry a card on its own.
Where he sits in the ratings
The WBC’s own bantamweight page rates Mwale seventeenth in the division and marks him as its International champion. That is the rung immediately below the world title picture: an International belt is a body’s own regional and developmental championship, and the ladder from there runs through an eliminator to a mandatory challenge.
It also explains why Mwale keeps fighting at home. Fourteen fights without a defeat is the sort of record that gets a boxer rated, and a rating is what eventually forces a bigger opponent to travel. Anyone following the division through AXN Sports should watch the WBC ratings release each month rather than the fight announcements, because the rating moves first.
Where to bet: Zambian boxing fans find bout markets on Betway and Premierbet, with odds in kwacha on fight winner, method of victory and round betting when a major card is on. A regional title fight is priced late and thinly, because the books wait for the weigh in and for confirmation that both boxers have travelled. Compare the two books before a big night.
