Ephraim Kondowe scored three times as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets beat Silver Strikers by five goals to nil at the Mpira Stadium, a win that closed the club’s first round of the FDH Bank Premiership on thirty points. Bullets stayed top until Blue Eagles went above them on 19 September.
Kondowe struck in the opening minutes and again midway through the first half. Wongani Lungu made it three before the interval, Kondowe completed his hat trick just past the hour and Misheck Billiat added the fifth soon afterwards.
Bullets coach Wedson Nyirenda told Nyasa Times that his side had been struggling to convert the chances it created in earlier games. Silver Strikers coach Peter Mgangira said his team had failed to manage its game plan and had conceded goals it should not have conceded. Mgangira left the club on 8 September, in what Silver Strikers described as a mutual agreement, and Patricio Kulemeka was named head coach of an interim technical panel.
What the win does to the table
Bullets ended their own first round programme on thirty points from fifteen matches, from eight wins, six draws and one defeat. Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers went into the weekend level on twenty nine points and Blue Eagles were a point further back on twenty eight, so the defeat left Silver third on goal difference and Bullets top for the moment.
How the first round finished
Blue Eagles hosted Mighty Wanderers at the Nankhaka Stadium on 19 September in the last first round fixture and won by two goals to one, which took them above Bullets and closed the first round on thirty one points. Wanderers had lost their CAF Champions League return leg in Dar es Salaam by six goals to one the weekend before.
Where to bet: a five goal win moves a league title market faster than it moves a match result market, which is where the value usually sits in the FDH Bank Premiership. Premier Bet, licensed by the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority, prices Malawian football in kwacha with deposits through Airtel Money and Mpamba, and covers match result, double chance, over and under and correct score. Compare the outright title price at more than one operator before the second round starts, because a table this tight reprices on a single result.
