Athletics is the sport Uganda wins at. The country’s distance runners compete across the track, the road and cross country, and the calendar that matters runs from the national trials in the first half of the year through to the global championships and the autumn marathons. This section follows the Ugandan season and the Ugandans racing abroad.
AXN Sports covers squad selections, entry lists, results and the qualifying maths behind them, along with the domestic road races that have grown into international events in their own right. We report what has been decided and what has been run rather than speculating about either.
Athletics markets are thinner than football markets in Uganda, so expect outright winner and head to head prices on the big races rather than a deep menu, and expect them to appear late. Betting is licensed by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, deposits run through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, and our guide to the best betting sites in Uganda shows which sites price athletics properly. You must be 25 or older to bet in Uganda.
